Fifteen year-old Yemeni artist Sarah al- Samaiy, opened her third abstract art exhibition with the Minster of Culture Dr. Mohammed al-Maflehi at a ceremony held by the AL-Afif Culture Foundation Tuesday January 6th. The exhibition, containing ten pencil-drawn pictures and will continue until Tuesday January 13th. Recently, the artist clarified her love of the three main colors; black, white and gray, which for the basis of her work.
The artist is a tenth grade student studying at the Belqes school, and she has expressed her thanks to Mr. Ahmed Jaber Afif, chairman and founder of the AL-Afif Culture Foundation for the chance to open the exhibition. She added sadly that she had no sponsor or support, except from her family- her mother in particular, who was standing next to her.
The beauty, pride and reflections on women were all expressed in her paintings, and she explained it by saying that she tries to talk about women in general, though Yemeni women in particular to discuss how they used to live in Yemen, and how their lives are changing today.
Mr. Ahmed al-Sharabi expressed the AL-Afif Cultural Foundation’s pleasure to sponsor such activities, especially for a young artist such as al- Samaiy.
