Former Deputy-Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Fathia Abdulwasa discussed the relationship between women and the media, and how Yemen is full of educated and enlightened women. Therefore, she called for a greater presence for Yemeni women in media institutions and other official and local facilities.
From The Sisters Arab Forum for Human Rights, Belqes al-Lahabi praised Abdulwasa’ role, and wished her good luck in the coming elections. She said that she is sure that if Abdulwasa, wins she will improve the Yemeni parliament.
The coordinator of this workshop, Fathia Thabat, said that the role of the MWF is to create a fair and effective media message to support modernization and to ensure equal rights for Yemeni women working in the media. She added that the aims of the meeting are to exhibit what women want from projects during the coming three years. This meeting is just one from a series of important meetings, including those for youth, women and journalists. The MWF will organize several work strategies to serve women and explore gender issues.
